Unmaking Mithu Sen: Of interventions, the now, and the museum.

I first met Mithu Sen in Queensland at her performance as part of 2018-19 Asia-Pacific Triennial 9. Back then, voice-activated devices were still fairly novel, and non-dominant accents were not easily understood by them. Mithu performed with Amazon Alexa, talking to her with formal languages and informal gibberish (the fantastic team at QAGOMA have put up an edited recording here). When she then had a solo exhibition in ACCA, I had to visit and had to revel completely in her world. With the support of Bhavna Khakar and the TAKE on Art team I was able to pen some ambitious thoughts on how I read the show.
