Performance Art Laboratory Project (PALA Project)

In November 2018, I attended Undisclosed Territory #11, an annual international performance art festival spearheaded by Melati Suryodarmo. Undisclosed Territory was first held in 2007 at Padepokan Lemah Putih, Solo, Indonesia. Over the years, it has been held in various locations in Bali and Solo. The 11th edition was held at Studio Plesungan, Solo, Indonesia. Leading up to the public festival, participants took part in Performance Art Laboratory Project (PALA) from 6 – 8 November 2020.

PALA is a parallel initiative for exchange between artists and artistic practitioners. We explored each other’s practices through roundtable discussions, formal presentations and spatial enquiries around Studio Plesungan and the city of Solo.

As my contribution, I shared my PhD research data and preliminary thoughts on Lee Wen’s Independent Archive with other participants.
